You saw the need — now they can see the world!

Imagine a child trying to read in class, but only seeing a blur. Or an adult looking at the night sky and never seeing stars.

In Ghana, this is the reality for nearly one in four people. Most vision loss is preventable. But for many, the nearest eye doctor is days away, and the cost of glasses is unaffordable.

But, because of your passion for innovation, glasses are becoming more accessible in underserved communities.

You’re helping bridge the gap between a need and a solution. We’ve partnered with Global Vision 2020, an award-winning organization that developed a simple vision tester and glasses assembly system. Together, our goal is to train entrepreneurs to test eyesight, and assemble affordable glasses, right in their own neighborhoods.

In 2025, the vision team hosted pop-up clinics in rural Ghana to test vision and sell prescription glasses, all while gathering information that will help develop and scale this new program.

During the clinics, the team tested 372 people and sold 110 pairs of glasses at an affordable price. Even those with good vision benefited from the clinics, as sunglasses were also available.

It’s not just about glasses. It’s about a student thriving because they can read their textbook clearly. An adult experiencing the wonder of stars for the first time. And an entrepreneur building a sustainable business. We’re so grateful to have you with us at the very start of this journey.
