Impact in the face of crisis

This is how iDE Mozambique staff describe their work in the past few months.
They relied heavily on funding from the U.S. government for staffing and program costs, which was suddenly cut earlier this year. In the face of these challenges, the team has shown remarkable resilience and optimism — a positive attitude that is helped by iDE supporters.
Thanks to donors like you, iDE Canada was able to offer a special grant to the Mozambique team through the Paul Polak Innovation Fund. This grant is making it possible for the team to adapt and continue delivering life-changing support to entrepreneurs.

At a time when funders are cutting their support of international development, the iDE Canada community continues to show up, and show our global neighbours that we care.
Thanks to their compassion, iDE’s work in Mozambique can continue.
Organic farming practices are expanding. Farmers are being trained in natural pest control. Suppliers, farmers, and customers are being connected. And entrepreneurs are gaining the skills and tools they need to grow their businesses — and their incomes.
iDE Mozambique is also testing out fish and chicken farming. These new ventures will do more than produce high-quality protein. They’ll create jobs at every stage: providing young chicks and fish, selling feed, providing veterinary care, and bringing food to market.
Another good thing about the donor-supported Polak Fund? They can use things they’ve learned from other award-winning projects — like using the library of natural pesticides to promote organic farming.
Thank you to our community, for continuing to believe in this work, even when times are tough. Your ongoing care is bringing stability, and hope, when it’s needed most.
